So first I set everything up. I kept the coke can for reference, and you can tell laptop is a monster.
For your viewing pleasure, here is a close up of the print. This is a breathable material, and applying it is much like tinting a window.
I used the plastic protective sheet that came stuck to the case as a template. I wanted to frame the image, so it worked out well. Conversely, I could have covered the entire panel with the material. But I decided to do it this way. The hardest part was determining which section to use (I had no idea what the size/scale would be when I ordered it).
I did some very careful measuring since I knew there would only be one shot to get the cut right. I used an exacto knife, and it cut straight against a ruler. The section I cut peeled off pretty easily. I spent a lot of time shaving off strips until it fit the way I wanted against the top panel.
Laying it down was a very scary momement. As with window tinting, air bubbles can be deadly. I had one or two imperfections, but overall I think it came out very well.
